The Afghan House Church Network began in 2011 with a small gathering of eight believers in a modest apartment. From the very beginning, our vision was to see Afghans come to know the saving message of the Gospel, place their faith in Christ, be baptized, and begin planting churches in their homes. By God’s grace, within just three years—by 2014—the network had grown to over 500 believers across the country. By 2020, our dream had become a reality: we had surpassed 1,000 baptized believers, planted more than 100 house churches, and trained over 120 leaders actively serving in seven branches of the network. However, when Afghanistan fell to the Taliban in August 2021, the newly emerging church was shaken to its core. Many believers who had boldly professed their faith were suddenly in grave danger. Some went into hiding, while others were left with no safe way out of the country. Our team acted swiftly. We established safe houses, arranged transportation and flights, and within 18 months, successfully evacuated over 750 people from Afghanistan. For those who remain in the country, we continue to provide food and medical assistance, and for those waiting for visas abroad, we supply housing and legal support. Despite the crisis, our ministry did not stop—it entered a new chapter. We have now rebuilt our network in the many countries where Afghans have resettled. House churches, Bible study groups, leadership training, and pastoral care are all continuing. We have also developed online resources, podcast teachings, audio Bibles, and spiritual books—all made available in local languages, so that no believer is left alone. Looking back, we see that God has faithfully led us through every step of this journey. Some of our dreams have been fulfilled, and now, with renewed hope, we are stepping into new ones: reaching the next generation with the Gospel, equipping leaders in the context of migration, and building strong churches within new communities. We are deeply grateful that you have stood with us in prayer, support, and shared mission. We believe that God will restore the Afghan church and bring it to full maturity—beyond anything we could have ever imagined.
